That adverting to the fact that St. John's Cathedral was originally built with a sum of money in a large proportion contributed by the Government, that it was planned on a scale of dimensions unnecessarily large for the wants of the general Community in order to accommodate the garrison, that a large proportion of the sittings was declared free at the express demand of the Government, that the trustees are thereby excluded from the means of increasing the repair fund by letting pews, and that from this cause, notwithstanding previous raisings of the rate of pew rents, an additional number of pews,...
